The Vase represents the receptive and passive Eternal Universal Female Principle.  The Eternal Universal Female Principle has also been represented by a Calyx in the Egyptian and in several other cultures.  Both, the Masculine Principle (the Sword in this case)  and Feminine Principle are there on the table, a must for balance in the universe.
